Enjoy the camaraderie of our busy MCDCC office as you learn about the County Party and help us gear up for the 2006 elections! MCDCC needs part-time interns to work in its office in Kensington. Duties, depending on the intern’s abilities and the office’s activities, will include maintaining databases, editing the website (www.mcdcc.org), writing correspondence (letters and e-mails), coordinating mailings, preparing flyers, assisting in preparing and sending Dollars Drive materials, operating phone banks, and writing stories for the Central Committee’s monthly newsletter, The Montgomery Democrat. - Volunteers Needed for Ballot Questions Committee

Volunteers are needed for the Ballot Questions Committee. To apply, please send a resume to the Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee at MontgomeryDems@msn.com or fax it to the Central Committee at 301-946-1002. The deadline for the resume is Monday, June 12, 2006 at 5:00PM. The rules require that at least half of the Committee members must be precinct chairs. The role of the Committee is to review both Ballot Questions and judicial candidates for the general election. In nominating John Roberts, the president has chosen a right wing corporate lawyer and ideologue for the nation's highest court instead of a judge who would protect the rights of the American people. Working for mining companies, Roberts opposed clean air rules and worked to help coal companies strip-mine mountaintops. He worked with Ken Starr (yes, that Ken Starr), and tried to keep Congress from defending the Voting Rights Act. He wrote that Roe v. Wade should be "overruled," and as a lawyer argued (and won) the case that stopped some doctors from even discussing abortion. [More Info »] That's why we believe: - Rove Must Go!
