Bio
Fred S. Evans, Democratic candidate for Montgomery County Council (At-large), retired from the Montgomery County Public Schools after a successful 30-year career. While principal of Gaithersburg High School and Parkland Middle School, he helped to create strong community partnerships with parents, local and state governmental agencies and local non-profit community groups in order to enhance the educational opportunities for his students. Currently, Fred utilizes his professional skills as an education leadership consultant and adjunct professor at the George Mason University and Johns Hopkins University Graduate Schools of Education.
Due to his strong belief in the importance of community involvement and professional activism, Fred has participated in, and been a leader of, a variety of initiatives and organizations in the county including:
- Chairman, Nominating Committee for the Montgomery College Board of Trustees
- President, Montgomery County Public Schools Retirees Association
- Vice President and member of the Mental Health Association Board of Directors
- Founding member of the Montgomery County Mentoring Task Force
- Member of the Metropolitan Ballet Theater Board of Directors
- Member of the Montgomery County Juvenile Court Committee
- President, Montgomery County Secondary School Administrators Association
- Diversity Training Specialist in the public and private sectors focused on issues of cross cultural communication, race relations and ethnic studies.
