KENSINGTON MD – The Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee (MCDCC) is seeking applications to serve on the County Board of Elections. The MCDCC will vote to nominate 2 regular members and 1 substitute member at a special meeting scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 30, at 3720 Farragut Avenue, Suite 303, Kensington. The meeting is open to the general public.
To be eligible for appointment, an applicant must have been a registered voter in Montgomery County for the preceding 5 years. The term of service is for 4 years and begins the first Monday in June of this year. Individuals may not hold or be candidates for public or party office. Election Board members are also prohibited from taking part in political activity. All nominations made by the MCDCC are subject to approval by the Governor and consent of the Maryland Senate.
The Montgomery County Board of Elections has 5 regular members and 2 substitute members. 3 regular members are appointed by the majority party, which is the political party of the incumbent Governor, and the minority party shall appoint 2 members. Each political party appoints 1 substitute member.
Anyone interested in seeking the appointment must submit a resume, cover letter and any other documentation that they would like committee members to consider no later than 9 a.m., Tuesday, January 29 by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Candidates will have the opportunity to speak for up to 3 minutes and answer questions by members of the MCDCC at the public meeting.
