MCDCC Seeks At-Large Member (Female/Non-binary)
The Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee (MCDCC) has an open seat for a female/non-binary member at-large, representing the entire county, who resides in Maryland District 9A, 14, 16, 17, 18, 19, or 20. The application deadline is 11:59 pm on Friday, January 23, 2026. The successful candidate will complete an unexpired term ending in November 2026.
Eligibility
Candidates for this position must:
- Identify as female or non-binary.
- As of the date of the appointment, be registered to vote as a member of the Democratic Party in Maryland District 9A, 14, 16, 17, 18, 19, or 20.
Gender balance rules dictate that that MCDCC may have no more than four at-large MCDCC members identifying as having the same gender, of eight at-large MCDCC members. There are currently 4 male and 3 female at-large members. The open seat must be filled by a female or non-binary member.
Democratic Party geographic diversity rules stipulate that there may not be more than two at-large members from any single district. Applicants from Districts 15 and 39 are ineligible because we currently have two seated at-large members from each of those districts.
MCDCC Member Responsibilities
The Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee is a group of 26 volunteer members elected to 4-year terms or appointed mid-term to fill a vacancy, representing the 9 state legislative districts within the county and the county at large. The MCDCC is responsible for leading and organizing the day-to-day operations of the local Democratic Party, as well as nominating replacements to the state legislature if an elected Democratic member from the county leaves office before the completion of their term.
As a member of the Central Committee, you will attend monthly MCDCC meetings and quarterly meetings of the state Central Committee. Members are responsible for planning, leading, and participating in Democratic Party activities such as fundraising, outreach, community service, voter registration, informing voters during elections, and serving at the polls.

The vacancy will be filled at the February 10, 2026 MCDCC business meeting, which starts at 6:30 pm. Each candidate will be given an opportunity to speak for up to 3 minutes and answer questions from current committee members.
