Since we won the majority in 2023, the Wisconsin Supreme Court has expanded voting access and reined in gerrymandering. The future could include decisions on abortion rights and Congressional redistricting – and we need to elected liberal Judge Susan Crawford to keep the majority and continue the positive directions! We’ll hear from speakers from three excellent organizations, and learn how we can support what they do:
Ben Wikler, Chair, Wisconsin Democratic Party – one of the most ambitious and strategic state parties in the country Chris Walloch, Executive Director, A Better Wisconsin Together – developing cutting-edge communications products and strategies Darby O’Connor, State Director, Wisco – inspiring and mobilizing thousands of Wisconsin’s college students to vote blue.

Defend the NIH – Stand Up for Science
Defend the NIH – Stand Up for Science
March 8, 2025 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Medical Center Metro Station, Bethesda, MD 20814, USA
Register: https://www.mobilize.us/mddems/event/759759/
Join our elected leaders and others to speak out against the reckless and arbitrary actions by the Trump administration to fire NIH personnel and cut funding. In addition to elected officials and union leaders, we will also hear personal stories from those who have been directly affected by the lifesaving work of the NIH.
Bring A Sign – Homemade is Perfect! Be creative! Express yourself!
DEFEND THE NIH! DUMP DOGE!
THE NIH SAVES LIVES - TRUMP-MUSK-DOGE DESTROYS LIVES
THE NIH SAVED MY MOM’S LIFE!
MEETUP DIRECTIONS
The rally takes place at the Medical Center Metro station, at South Drive & Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD. There is no public parking at that location but plenty of bike parking and a Bikeshare station. We recommend taking Metrorail to Medical Center (Red line).
Click here for station information, including bus service: https://www.wmata.com/rider-guide/stations/medical-center.cfm?y=4.
If you drive, we suggest you park at the Grosvenor-Strathmore station (parking is free on Saturday) and take Metrorail one stop from there or take RideOn Bus #46 (10:35am or 11:00am).
When you arrive by rail at Medical Center: Take the escalator or elevator to the mezzanine level. Exit the fare gates and turn left – the overhead sign says West side – NIH – Buses/Kiss and Ride/Elevator – and head up the long escalator or take the elevator. The rally will be on the plaza where the escalator lets you out. ------------
MORE ABOUT THE NIH
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is made up of 27 Institutes and Centers, each with a specific research agenda, often focusing on particular diseases or body systems. It is one of the world's top medical research centers, and the leading agency of the U.S. government for biomedical and public health research. Within the U.S., it is a cornerstone of scientific advancement in health. The NIH conducts its own research and provides substantial funding to universities, hospitals, and other research institutions. Through these efforts, the NIH plays a critical role in developing new treatments, therapies, and preventive measures for a wide range of diseases, thus significantly contributing to saving and improving lives.
Find out more at nih.gov
------------
This event is part of a Maryland Democratic Party Statewide Weekend of Action, brought to you by the Maryland and Montgomery County Democratic Party and local advocates, in solidarity with NIH employees. It is not sponsored by the NIH or any NIH institutes or centers.

Democrats cannot sign any funding bill that does not include BINDING mechanisms to limit DOGE or any other agent from impounding and dismantling Federal Agencies. This is the first step in Trumps' aim to consolidate power and we cannot allow it.
Democrats are already signaling they are working towards a bill with "assurances" from Republicans. They are giving their only leverage away, for "assurances". We call our reps every day, but they are not hearing us.
We need to be out in droves, we need to be loud, and we need to be united. Our message: Where is Congress. Do your Job. Vote NO . Any CR must be only for 2 weeks at a time.
From 12PM-1PM we will be at Union Square (Capitol Building Reflecting Pools) and demanding Congress hold the line for the sake of our democracy. After 1PM, we will break into groups to go to our representatives' offices to meet with staff or leave messages with our concerns. Be prepared to head over to your representatives' offices after the 12-1PM protest at Union Square (Capitol Building).
We are organizing across 20+ Indivisible groups in the DMV area, but welcome all comers.

What could be more relevant under today’s presidential regime? Davis, who is Black, went into the Klan’s den in his effort to foster communications.

Maryland General Assembly Crossover Day
Maryland General Assembly Crossover Day
March 17, 2025
Monday, March 17th marks Crossover Day at the Maryland General Assembly. On this day, the House of Delegates sends over to the Senate all the bills we've voted favorably on and vice versa. By this point in session, we are working hard to ensure that our legislative priorities have made it to the opposite chamber for consideration, which is a critical step to getting our bills to the Governor's desk.
