The Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee (MCDCC) will fill a vacancy for a member representing Legislative District 19 at its regular business meeting on July 9, 2024. The successful candidate will complete the unexpired term ending in November 2026. Candidates for this position must fulfill the following criteria as of the date of appointment:

  • Identify as female or non-binary
  • Be registered to vote as a member of the Democratic Party in Maryland Legislative District 19.

Please submit an application that consists of a cover letter, a resume, and any additional information that you would like the Central Committee to consider in assessing your qualifications. You must email your application no later than 5 pm on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 to [email protected], with the subject line: D19 MCDCC Vacancy Application.

The vacancy will be filled at an in-person public meeting of the MCDCC to be held at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, July 9. Candidates will be given an opportunity to speak for up to 3 minutes and answer questions from current committee members.

MCDCC Member Responsibilities

The Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee is a group of 26 volunteer members elected to 4-year terms, representing the 9 state legislative districts within the county and the county at large. The MCDCC is responsible for leading and organizing the day-to-day operations of the local Democratic Party, as well as nominating replacements to the state legislature if an elected Democratic member from the county leaves office before the completion of their term.

As a member of the Central Committee, you will attend monthly MCDCC meetings and quarterly meetings of the state Central Committee. Members are responsible for planning, leading, and participating in Democratic Party activities such as fundraising, outreach, community service, voter registration, informing voters during elections, and serving at the polls.
